TOKYO — U.S. gymnastic specialist MyKayla Skinner has won a silver decoration in the individual acrobatic last for the vault – a rivalry she wasn't hoping to partake in at the Tokyo Olympics.
Skinner, 24, was tapped to contend in the vault after Simone Biles, the best gymnastic specialist on the planet, pulled out from the opposition to zero in on her emotional wellness.
"I commit this decoration to Simone. I wouldn't be here today if not for her," she said. "I revealed to her I would do this one for her. She said, 'don't do it for me, do it for yourself', so actually it's for us all."
Rebeca Andrade of Brazil took the gold decoration, and Yeo Seojeong of South Korea took bronze.
"I feel so lowered to finish in the vault last, as I didn't might suspect it planned to occur. I've buckled down, put a hold on from school and was a substitute in 2016," Skinner added.
She had effectively given meetings looking at hanging up her leotard once and for all. She's moving to Utah and is seeking after a degree in news-casting, fully intent on being a games telecaster. "As far as I might be concerned, I'm very eager to have a day to day existence and afterward perhaps start a family," she told People. "We'll only sort of see where life takes me."
